Dumfriesshire & Cumbria Greyhound Rescue

Adopt, Donate, Sponsor, Volunteer

Well everything met with our expectations! The new format with all the tables upstairs with the show went extremely well and despite some apprehension about space or lack of, there was sufficient room for everyone. All the comments we received were positive and it was pleasing to see new faces (people and dogs) at our event.

The 15 classes were keenly contested and when it came to the Champion of Champions at the end, the judges were scratching their heads attempting to pick a winner. The judges on the day were Cammie Watt (Chairman) and Andy Gray (Treasurer) of the Galloway Gundog Association with whom DCGR have had an excellent relationship over the years.

At the end of proceedings, Jo-Jo from Powfoot was chosen as the Champion and Sky from Aspatria was Reserve Champion.

DCGR in general and Graham in particular would like to thank all the volunteers who "manned" the tables and cafeteria, the sponsors who were very generous with their cash, our supporters who donated so much for the event and our magnificent greys and their owners for coming along and making the event so successful..

There is no doubt that small is beautiful and despite the challenges being experienced by us at present, DCGR WILL CONTINUE into the future and WILL continue to serve Dumfries and Galloway and Cumbria by saving and homing ex-racing greyhounds.

Finally the cash is still coming in but indications are that the 2017 event will be the most successful in financial terms for some years.
